As time goes by, I still feel like I’m the same person until I witness someone else going through similar events. Then I see how much I have grown. Some people say that a full circle requires one to be a student, practise the trade, and finally to complete the training by being able to teach what you have learnt to someone else.
It’s good to stay true to your core self, but don’t forget how much you have grown. Celebrate the person you have blossomed into. Like caterpillars, we all transform into butterflies at one stage or another.
As I go through different stages of my life, people tell me how my priorities will change. I used to think they were underestimating my core determination and that my original priorities will be compromised. Now that I have stepped over to the other side with new priorities as a mom and have gone through a health scare, I realized that letting go of certain control over original priorities doesn’t mean that I must sacrifice any standards, vision or my integrity. Instead, it has strengthened the beliefs that I truly feel passionate about while having the courage to let go of other priorities which I was on the fence about previously.
The new priorities give me a new profound ease and confidence to see the bigger picture and make more sound decisions that impact both my design sensitivity as well as my own well-being.
